Hexed
Frightmaster
This is a new haunt this year at Cedar Point and really delivers the scares. It’s as if you visited a coven of witches on a dark, windy October night. When you enter the haunt the tension slowly builds as the first few witches seem nice enough, almost friendly and welcoming. But the deeper you go into the haunt, the more intimidating and evil they become until you start to dread what you’re going to see next! The highlight of Hexed for me was the 12 foot tall witches that followed you around. I felt like I was having a nightmare that I couldn’t escape from. Nice variety in the rooms while keeping the main theme of witches throughout the haunt. The Skeleton key room was a HOOT! Excellent job!
Zombie High
Frightmaster
Zombie high was pretty much the same as last year. Not to say that’s a bad thing. The creativity here and attention to detail is excellent, right down to the lunch guy handing you some kind of raw meat on a tray. There were places I felt could have had a few more actors and a few of the actors seemed a bit confused as to what they were supposed to do. This detracted a bit from a really good haunt. It’s a fun haunt, not particularly scary but enjoyable to go through. The last room is the best. Get the skeleton key for an extra “treat”!
G.A. Boeckling’s Eerie Estate
Frightmaster
We felt that this one has lost a bit of the scare factor that it had in recent years. Maybe it was lack of actors? Maybe it needs to be changed up just a bit? It’s a great premise – old eerie estate, creepy rooms, dark halls, poorly lit, piano that plays itself….but it needs to step up the scares a bit. Maybe some overhead scares? A dark room perhaps where you can’t find your way out? This haunt could be the best at Cedar Point with a bit more creativity.
Tombstone Terror-tory
Frightmaster
This was just a walk-thru outside haunt with large animatronics and a few zombie/cowboys walking around. Nice idea but needed more.
Cornstalkers
Frightmaster
This haunt was surprisingly good this year with nice participation areas and good scares from the actors. A must see at Cedar Point.
Carnevil
Frightmaster
This was your typical Carn-evil clown themed walk through with all the evil clowns you would ever want to see in one place. Mostly were funny/scary. Few were actually very scary. I feel this theme is far past it’s time and needs to be replaced with maybe a walking dead themed area?
Meniacal Mechanical Screamworks
Frightmaster
Fun to walk through. Foggy to the point of not being able to see your hand in front of your face. Creepy guys and gals jump out and shake penny cans at you. Lasers pierce the fog and scary music plays in the background. Coffins and skeletons in various poses line the sides of the walkways. Great atmosphere for a stroll on a dark October night!
Overall
Frightmaster
We always love going to Cedar Point Halloweekends and this year was one of the best yet! The new addition of “Hexed!” was a pleasant surprise and the return haunts, both indoor and outside, didn’t fail to scare and entertain our reviewers. If you visit Cedar Point for the Halloweekends, be sure to stay in the Breakers Hotel to really get in the Halloween spirit! It’s decorated throughout with everything Halloween and because the hotel itself is over 100 years old, it’s really like staying in a haunted hotel if you stay in the old section. Thank you, Cedar Point for another great visit!
Overall score: 3.14 Skulls (Good)
